Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 17, 2026 · Last Updated: May 24, 2026
ThefoodieAI ("we", "us", or "the App") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have regarding your information. By using ThefoodieAI, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: When you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your email address and display name from the authentication provider. We do not receive your password.
- Profile information: You may provide your biological sex, age, height, weight, activity level, weight goal direction, dietary archetype, preferred coaches, and notification preferences. This information is optional and used to personalize calorie and macro targets.
- Food logs: Every meal you log, whether via photo analysis or manual entry, is stored. This includes the meal name, time, calories, macronutrients, optional mood reaction, and any photos you upload.
- Photos: Food photos you take or upload are stored in our cloud storage and sent to our analysis service to identify food and estimate nutrition.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage patterns: We derive eating-time patterns (e.g., your typical breakfast time) from your meal logs to provide smart reminder timing.
- Streak and engagement data: We track your current daily logging streak and daily quest completion state.
- Device and technical information: Basic information necessary for the App to function (device type, OS version, app version, error logs for crash reporting).
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide food analysis: photos are sent to Google's Gemini API for AI-powered identification of foods and estimation of nutritional content.
- To personalize your experience: profile data is used to calculate recommended calorie and macro goals using established nutritional formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor).
- To provide reminders: your past eating patterns inform when we suggest you log meals.
- To generate weekly summaries: aggregated data from your logs creates your weekly recap.
- To improve the App: anonymized usage patterns help us identify bugs and improve features.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Who We Share Information With
We share information only with the third-party service providers necessary to operate the App:
- Supabase: Database, file storage, and authentication services. Stores your profile, food logs, photos, and account information. Hosted in the United States.
- Google: Sign-In authentication. Food photos are also sent to Google's Gemini API for AI analysis. Google may retain this data per its own policies.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple authentication, when used.
- Railway: Server hosting for our analysis backend.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data to train AI models on our own.
